Holy crap this level is not friendly to minimalists. So far the game hasn't actually been that challenging, I guess this one's making up for that.

And yes, these are called the Caves of Manikvraad, but they're not actually called that until the very end of the game. They're also referred to as the Four-Point Mines. By Ganon. Who is also the one who calls them the Caves of Manikvraad. And I think both of those lines were written by Harrison, so it's not even inconsistent due to having two developers. So yeah I have no idea.
