We begin a new Let's Play, as voted for by the viewers, of a very different game than what I've done on this channel so far - a first-person shooter with horror elements that is chock full of themes and symbolism around American exceptionalism, nationalism, religious cults, political movements, spacetime, guilt, white supremacy, and a whole bunch of others. It's an imperfect story but one that I think is unique in its richness compared to the storylines of many other games especially of this genre.

I don't get a whole lot out in this episode, mostly because I really like letting that entire opening sequence speak for itself and let you get a sense of the kind of detail that's in the world-building in this game. And that'll be a thing throughout the run, having a little less frequent uninterrupted commentary, although there are several longer stretches of the game focused more on combat and exploration rather than story. If you've never seen or played this game before, I hope I manage to provide you with the opportunity to pay attention to not only the dialogue scenes but all the little things (Voxophones, kinetoscopes, background details, side conversations, etc.) that flesh out the game's world and story. My hope is that, despite my not being the most tactical player of this game, this run will give us all a good opportunity to take a look at the ideas it's playing with and see what kind of things we can take from it. Should be a good time and I'm really excited to be starting this one!
