Let's Play Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle #08: The Final Levels
74Our remaining lives are few but so too are the levels before us. We have the hardest challenges still to come and I have no doubt that the developers pulled out all the stops in creating levels that require intense focus, strategy and no small amount of luck to prevail over.
Will Bugs manage to rescue Honey Bunny? Will we ever get an explanation as to what is going on with the other Looney Toons here? Will the ending be worth all the effort it took to get there?
The first entry in the Crazy Castle series was always going to be a simpler game than the ones that followed in its wake, but I wasn't prepared for just HOW basic it was. All the gameplay elements I know and enjoy in the sequel are there, but there's a lack of variety that makes the whole product feel less polished. The lack of music tracks, enemies, different power-ups and the total lack of background details all detract from the experience, but not enough to stop it being fun. The core mechanics are mostly sound - I still don't like how floaty things are on stairs - and there's certainly challenge to be had, though I wouldn't pick this game over the sequel if given the choice.
So, what's next? Remember when I said at the end of Serious Sam The Second Encounter that I weasn't going to be playing another FPS any time soon? Well, I found myself hankering for another one of them, one that I've never played before despite having a lot of history with other entries in the series. Let's just say that the days of this game having not been played by me are numbered and a very specific number at that.
