ABOUT THIS GAME
Again the darkness stalks its prey.
Again she dances down the halls
Of madness. Music tints the gray.
Again her master calls.
Shoot and shift color in this short-run psychedelic action roguelite, in which you’ve committed a terrible sin. Painfully peel back the layers of your denial over multiple playthroughs, and face what you did.
The closer you are to your enemies in color, the more vulnerable they are to you. Kill quickly! Battle brings on the darkness, causing more dangerous foes to appear. When the darkness is full, panic begins…
There are 120 colors for you to take on across the visible spectrum. When the darkness is full, special colors beyond this spectrum become possible too. Rain destruction upon your foes while ultraviolet, or feel their wrath while infrared!
Level up by color
Level up between battles in color-specific ways. For example, you might choose a yellow-centric defense boost, a cyan-centric increase to your rate of fire and a magenta-centric footspeed boost.
As you shift color, then, so will your stats. What color will you choose at a given moment of battle?
Earn your atonement
Win battles to earn prayer points, which you can spend on empowering yourself with blessings, and work towards your ultimate goal of a confession by taking on burdens that make your run harder in various ways. At the end of each run, you'll progress towards unlocking new burdens and revealing more of the nature of your sin.
Hear colorful music
By shifting your color, you shift the game’s music. A cyan piano becomes a yellow yueqin or magenta music box as you traverse the visible spectrum.
Enjoy colorblind support
Chromocide accommodates colorblind vision by helping you tell how close you are to your enemies in color. The closer you are, the more visible their health bars are.
