0I recently got into PS2 Emulation and since I have this on Xbox, I've decided to return to one of my favorite summer games. A lot of fans don't like it because it underutilizes its potential and is therefore inferior to other Crash racing games, but I don't care. I enjoyed it for what it is. Anyway, many years ago, a mad scientist named Dr. Neo Cortex wanted the rule the world by creating a race of hyper evolved super animals. He wanted to use Crash Bandicoot as his army's general, but when Crash was put through the Evolvo-Ray, it rejected him because he was an idiot...or did it? Since then Crash and Cortex have been bitter enemies as he continuously stops his creator from attempting world domination. Years later, we see an auto racing sports news broadcast about something big happening at the world's most deranged theme park, Von Clutch's Motor World. A thief has stolen all the power gems that have been powering the generators that keep the attractions open. Even worse, Von Clutch is now terminal due to his cyborg body slowly powering down because his own black power gem has been swiped from his chest cavity. Desperate, he offers the ownership of his park as a reward to whoever recovers all the power gems so he hosts a racing tournament to attract some drivers. Meanwhile, not too far away, Crash and his siblings Coco & Crunch are on the run from Dr. Cortex, his assistant N. Gin, and his daught-er, I mean niece Nina. They all crash through the gates of the park and Von Clutch being a big Crash Video Game fan makes everyone participate. Cortex agrees hoping to use the park as his new base of operations and the Bandicoots are in to stop that as well as solve the mystery of the power gem thief. Pasadena O. Possum joins in order to keep the park ownership with Von Clutch. With everything settled, the park mascot Willie Wumpa Cheeks then gives a riddle to the first power gem that has been conveniently left in the open. Crash grabs it and the Mystery Island attraction is soon reopened.
