Dead Space is a deep space, sci-fi, survival horror game set aboard the USG Ishimura, a colossal mining vessel orbiting the resource-rich planet of Aegis 7. Protagonist Isaac Clarke, an engineer, arrives aboard the ship following distress calls and subsequent radio silence, to repair the ship. There he finds the corpses of the ship's crew reanimating, reconstituting, and mutating into hideous necromorphs.
Not only is Dead Space's setting remarkable, it's wonderfully atmospheric, its monster design is top-notch, and it boasts fantastic sound design. The primary gimmick of the game revolves around how you fight the necromorphs: through dismemberment. Monsters are slow to die to headshots and body shots, but a well-placed Plasma Cutter shot to a limb can fell a monster quickly.
This is an LP I've been waiting to do for quite some time. I've previously done Dead Space: Extraction, a game which takes place prior to the events of the main three Dead Space games. Now that some time has passed, I'm finally ready to do justice to a series that has a special place in my heart.
