I think those obelisk type things can be called conduits. I am not too sure but hey, no sense in using vocabulary already mentioned in the game! Grammatical and syntactical ambiguity is no excuse for not using some big words that'll make your head spin. If you can make someone say, damn, those are some big words, slap him five and say: "I won!"
