In this video, you will see me play Drop Duchy (Steam Next Fest). This game is a Roguelite Strategy Kingdom Building game with Deck Building mechanics with a mix of Tetris Puzzle and Tactical Combat. You build your Kingdom on a Tetris Board with pieces of your Town filling the board falling from the Top to be arranged strategically along the bottom. The pieces are either Terrain Blocks or Buildings that interact with each other for various effects. For example, Farms touching Plains turn them into Wheat Fields. The Wood Clearer (wood cutter camp), turns Forest into Plains. There are Three resource types. Gold, Wood, and Wheat. When you fill in a full row, all the tiles on that row becomes "explored" and you will collect resources. Combat Buildings can recruit units associated to that building based on the surrounding tile interaction. At the end of the Building Phase, you enter the Combat Phase where you decide how to form the armies (merging units) to battle each other. The units have a simple "Rock, Paper, Scissors" mechanic. Archers beats Axemen, Axmen beats Swordsmen, Swordsmen beats Archers. You get Gold when you win the battle with your remaining Army Units. If you lose the battle, your Defense Army is used to determine if your city survives or not. You can spend gold to rebuild your Defense Army. The Resources you've collected are used to upgrade the Card Buildings. The game has Three Act (Regions) where you explore the region and battle the Boss at the end. In the demo, you can only play the first Act (one region boss). This game has some interesting mechanics.

Optimization is key to collecting precious resources, protecting your castle, and building your army. Select your path, gather your troops to outnumber your enemies, and reclaim the regions under their control. But be careful: letting your castle take too much damage can lead to defeat. Successful battles lead your forces down branching, decision-filled paths in a march to storm the enemy fortress. If your army falls before capturing the bastion, you can quickly jump back in and try a new strategy, thanks to a cleverly designed gameplay loop. Adapt, conquer, and keep the action moving!
