What is Earth Defense Force 5?

EDF5 is the latest chapter in the Earth Defense Force series. Players take on the role of an elite member of a multinational military force charged with defending the Earth from an alien invasion. This game is a 3rd person shooter, with players finding themselves battling overwhelming hordes of gigantic insects, monsters, and other alien invaders.

The series first launched back in 2003 and has earned a reputation for its relentless wave shooter gameplay with tons of enemies, wide array of unique weapons and loadout combinations, and its charming b-movie dialogue and settings with cities under siege by giant monsters.

Players can choose from four unique classes (Ranger, Wing Diver, Fencer, Air Raider) and conquer over 100 missions with more than 1,000 weapons and armaments to unlock and master.

EDF5 also offers up to four-player online co-op as well as offline couch co-op, supporting up to two players via split-screen.

The game is rated M for mature and is available on Dec 11, 2018. Price $59.99 for standard edition, $89.99 for the deluxe edition, which includes the full game, a day 1 pack and additional two missions that will be available post-launch.
