In this Let's Play video, I will be playing Edge Islands (Release Early Access Version). This game is a fantasy Survival Colony Builder (Simulation Rim World Style) with RPG Tactical Turn Based Combat (X-Com Style) Dungeon Crawler. The colony base builder aspect is a real time simulation that is very similar to "Rim World", "Founder's Fortune", "Noble Fates", "Going Medieval", and "Mind Over Magic". The dungeon crawler turned base combat aspect is similar to playing "Wartales", "Rogue Waters", "Crown Wars: Black Prince", "X-COM", "Baldur's Gate 3", and "Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch". The game starts you off with 3 character classes (Swordsman, Hunter, Templar) on an adventure where you arrive on an Island and must build up a small base and eventually establish a settlement (colony). You'll spend the early parts of the game trying to gather resources to provide basic needs for your character to survive and maintain their mood. When the character's mood is too low, they'll leave the colony. Gather food quickly so they don't go hungry, and then provide them a bed to sleep on so their mood doesn't drop. After that, you'll want to build up your settlement. The Quests at the top left of the screen will guide you through the game features. You'll eventually need to engage in combat to get resources that can only be obtained by the mobs and dungeons. You can manually select your characters and direct them to combat. The game switches to a new map screen for the tactical turn based combat portion. Each character has their own skills sheet that you can level up and choose a specific talent for them. You'll be able to recruit new characters to your settlement once you collect enough resources from doing the Dungeon explorations. The dungeon runs are procedurally generated so you get a difference experience each time exploring it. You complete a dungeon crawl run when you defeat the monsters in the main dungeon room. You'll need to explore the dungeon to find it. Each time you complete a run, the blight around the dungeon will slow shrink and the dungeon increases in difficulty. This game is releasing into Early Access on March 24th.
