Final Fantasy II (1991)

This is the original english translation of the Super Famicon Game "Final Fantasy IV". Released in 1991 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Final Fantasy II was the first Final Fantasy game I finished and has been one of my favorite games of all time ever since.

Although many hardcore Final Fantasy fans prefer the more faithful later adaptations of the original japanese version of this game, I chose to play this version since it's the one I grew up with and is the one that left such a deep impression on me all those years ago. Up to that point I had never played a game with such a gripping story, well developed characters and with such a beautiful soundtrack. It redefined RPGs and made the Final Fantasy franchise one of the most successful and well known game series of all time.

This version is considerably easier than the original Japanese version, and some view it as "dumbed down" because the enemies were nerfed, and the variety of items and abilities was greatly reduced. Still it makes the story flow all the more quickly and I think works better for Let's Plays.

As usual, I'm playing this game with my young niece and nephew so as to capture their reactions as well. Although they have played the DS version of this game up to a point, most of the story is new to them. Anyway, have fun watching!
