End it strong, man. This was such a fun LP to do. :)

The basic rules of Frequency are to play 2 bars of a song's track without error, to open up other musical tracks, and to eventually open up the two "freestyle" tracks, to gain bonus points to fill "down time". Any time the player fails or skips a bar of music, they are deducted life, and if they complete a track, their life is replenished.

Multipliers are applied for completing successive tracks, starting at 2x, and this resets after a few measures, or any error. Score is only given on completion of a track, and the number of points is based on the difficulty of a track, starting at 2 points.

A player can only hold 1 power-up, either an instant multiplier, or auto-catcher. Multiplier is used to start a 2x score, instantly, or extend and add to the current streak's multiplier. Auto-catcher instantly clears a track, adds a multiplier bonus, and gives life - the cost is that the score for the cleared track is halved, (2:1, 12:6, etc). Any power-up not used is overwritten when a new power-up is gained.

My control method:

Left Note: L1
Center Note: R1
Right Note: R2
Power-up: X

You can use the Square, Circle, or Triangle buttons, or configure any way that is comfortable, but, shoulder buttons allow for much more rapid and responsive inputs, especially for faster songs, and more complex drum tracks. Shoulder buttons also allow you to feel out rhythms more accurately, as you can actually tap your inputs to the beat, and more complex tracks (strings and synth) generally play off the up or down-beat of the drum and bass tracks.

I also am a bassist (15 years), drummer (2 years), vocalist (16 years), and solo, lofi musician (ambient, noise, and drum-and-bass), so my best advice for songs on Expert is to ALWAYS start with the first drum and bass tracks first, to feel out your beats, and then approach the optional synth and string tracks, then your vocals and secondary drums, as these melody and accent tracks are generally harder to "lock-in" without having your skeleton formed: trust me, it's easier this way for REAL music, and it's easier in Frequency.

Survival is also key in Expert, and until you can run a song JUST for score, focus on tracks you can play, FIRST, and then the tracks you struggle with, LAST: this allows your life meter to stay higher, and allows for more mistakes. If you can, use auto-catchers for tough tracks, OR, use them at the END of a measure, before the next one starts, to keep your life meter higher, and prevent decay.

For higher scores, simply start songs by unlocking all the tracks, in order, and then play easier to tougher, and then tougher to easier, to keep the multiplier bonus as high as possible. Use auto-catchers on low scoring tracks, at the start of a bar, and quickly move to higher scoring tracks, to prevent "wasting" time and multiplier decay. Also, prioritize staying in the freestyle tracks as long as possible, BUT, multiplier DOES NOT affect the freestyle tracks, so do them last.

All rights reserved to the original artists of the soundtrack, and all material provided. I do not own any of the music featured in Frequency, nor do I claim to own any of it, and am simply uploading this footage mainly for archival sake.

Any errors are almost 100% because of frame skips, due to recording software, and are actually very easy to spot when they happen.

My Frequency PCSX2 Settings:

Audio Settings:

1: Output: Module: 4 - PortAudio (Cross-platform) (Config: 10ms latency)
2: Output: Latency: 70ms (65min-75max)
3: Synchronizing Mode: TimeStretch (default settings)

Without using Bandicam to record, this is the most accurate emulator settings, that will reduce frame-skipping and provide the most accurate audio latency, that closely resembles a standard PS2 and CRT latency.
