Let's Play Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure Demo 04: Let's Do Voodoo!
142Gibbous- A Cthulhu Adventure is a tongue-in-cheek point and click adventure game in development that takes a lighthearted look at the Cthulhu mythos and the adventure game genre in general. Traditionally animated and with 2D painted backgrounds as well as comprehensive voice acting it seeks to hark back to the days of classic adventure games made by LucasArts and similar companies. The main character Buzz has ended up with the Necromonicon against his wishes and on top of that has accidentally cursed his pet, the result being it can now talk. Neither find this situation agreeable and so they set out to remove the curse on Buzz's cat and try to get the dreaded tome to the person who was searching for it in the first place. Now, if only he hadn't been kidnapped...
We may not have a direct solution to our problem but we've been pointed in the direction of someone who might have one. The only problem is we've no idea where they are specifically and the general place they are we've no access to currently unless we decide to go a side quest to help someone out who can get us there. And where there are side quests there's another staple of adventure games...
From what I've seen of the demo I'm rather impressed. For such a small group of people there's a lot of love and effort that's gone into the demo alone and the game most certainly shows promise for me. The issues with the frame rate and spelling will most likely be solved as development continues and the sheer amount of dialogue (over 700 lines for Buzz in the demo alone as I've stated in the video) is exceptional. The atmosphere is dark and yet lighthearted and I think the comedy is zany while also keeping that mythos vibe that keeps it true to the setting. I'll most certainly be backing it myself and now that you've seen the demo you'll be able to make your minds up on if you want to as well, downloading the demo to see what dialogue choices I didn't go for in these videos and get a more direct feel for what the game is like.
So, what's next? Will we see Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure on the channel at some point when it's hopefully completed? I hope so, it looks like something right up my street and if it keeps the same high standard of quality the demo has I won't be disappointed.
