One of the many unreleased indie games with demos this summer that caught my eye, HROT is a shameless loveletter to Quake right down to the brown-dominated color palette. As one of the civil defense volunteers of Czechoslovakia, we need to hold back the Soviet forces that have invaded after an unspecified disaster has left the surface hostile. Along with gas-mask wearing soldiers, we also have to contend with floating Communist statue heads, giant spiders, and hostile horses (also wearing gas masks). It certainly needs more time in the oven, but it's an interesting theme for a Quake-like.
