After making enough money for the next mission we actually go and prepare for a mission to land on the Mun. This requires design of a few new vessels (Command Module Mk. III, Mobile Laboratory Mk. II and Mun Lander Mk. I) using the technologies we recently aquired.

If we manage to fill our tasks and bring back information from the Mun that we desire, it will move our program months ahead. If we fail though it will be the first catastrophy in our timeline of Kerbin.
