After much offscreen grinding, we are ready to fight one of the bosses blocking our way to the final battle.

Serpent of Chaos (Boss):
64 million hp, get ready for a long fight. This boss is split into three phases. Each phase will unlock more moves for it to use. Its speed is rather low but each action allows it to make three separate attacks. Phase one is single target elemental attacks followed by either a physical attack, a status effect, or Magic Drain. Phase two will add area elemental attacks along with row based physical attacks that can cause instant death. Phase three will have the most powerful elemental attacks along with Destroy Magic, Thousand Hand Cannon (over 200k piercing damage), and Scourge (over 2 million piercing damage).

The boss starts out neutral in all elements until it gets an action. After every odd action, it will be resistant to all elements except for Nature and Mystic and after even turns, it is vulnerable to Fire and Cold. Resistant elements will reduce damage to 20% so be sure too keep track of the odds and evens unless you wish to stick with non elemental attacks. If you happen to attack it while its doing its three attacks, the affinities may be different than the standard so becareful.

Just take your time until you reach phase three and then blitz the rest of his hp down. The longer you take in the final phase, the more opportunities it has to use piercing attacks or Destroy Magic. It is immune to Paralyze and resistant to Debuffs which will wear off quickly due to the multiple actions per turn.

This boss has a 10% chance to drop Machine God Lucifer. Well worth retrying the fight for this drop. This item will only drop from this boss.
