Hello YouTube and welcome to the LATE, FINAL, episode of our Layers of Fear playthrough! In today's video we finally finish our masterpiece!...But at what cost?

Story: 6/10
The story of Layers of Fear had me going from the very beginning. The way that the developer's revealed each little event in broken/twisted images really made it an enjoyable experience. It presents a classic drunk dad making mistake after mistake until it's finally too late and he breaks in the end...Unfortunately the ending that I got left me rather disappointed. It felt too kind to end it in that way given everything that I've seen/heard about throughout the walking. The rest of the game was really gripping but the ending really left me feeling like I got played, it didn't ruin the game but it definitely didn't tie the rest of the masterpiece together like I expected it would.
Audio: 9/10
The audio in this game is PHENOMENAL. There is mostly silence following you through the hallways of this broken house, only the creaks of the floor and the thudding of doors are audible throughout most of it. To me that makes it all the more fantastic, each creak brought stress, each door opening brought new scares, and each scare was executed with perfect buildup/sounds. Not to mention the background music and the piano was absolutely beautiful when we got to hear them.
Graphics: 10/10
There are absolutely no complaints to be had when it comes to the visuals in this game. The unity engine really comes to full power here. Each model is detailed and each painting looks as authentic as they come. The lighting in this game also sets the mood perfectly almost all the time. Whether it was walking down a hallway, or falling through the floor, I was thoroughly impressed the whole time.
Controls: 8/10
Basic controls. No jumping, shift to sprint, mouse and keyboard to move yada yada. The one thing I have an issue with is how unresponsive the turning/opening mechanic was at times. There were times where doors opened the opposite way that I was pulling, and nearly EVERY object I had to turn was fighting my movements which broke immersion every so slightly.
TL;DR
Layers of Fear is one of the best horror experiences I've had. The atmosphere/ambiance in the game is stunning. Not to mention that the game is visually and audibly impressive. The beginning of the game drew on a bit but it wasted no time in getting terrifying once you got past the exposition. Jump scares are well time and there is no monster chasing you around, mind melting worlds that change every time that you turn around make it feel like you are actually going insane. The ending is a bit lackluster depending on which one you get but don't let that deter you from having this experience, definitely a game worth buying.
Would I recommend this game? : YEAH BOY
Should you buy this game? : ABSOLUTELY
