Let's Play Mass Effect 2 [Part 141]: Sky High
Overall: 9.5/10
Graphics / Sound: 10/10
- Awesome music that fits the atmosphere.
- Stunning graphics, particularly on some living areas such as Citadel that put together an elegant image of the future.
- Good voice acting with a variety of emotions to fit character back stories and race.
- Most weapons are more than impressive in how they look and operate.
Story: 10/10
- Continuation of Mass Effect.
- Easy to follow plot that builds on the previous game, or incorporates well without the presence of a past save.
- Engaging characters with good writing, whether or not the characters end up being likeable.
- Character development for everyone, including a multi-branch system of romance dependent on player action.
- Minor things either seem to get dropped or go nowhere. Perhaps characters "forget" about certain things due to programming of the final mission.
- Gripping ending that leaves one to wonder what the consequences of Shepard's final decision were.
- Unique offer of continuing the saga in Mass Effect 3 to be consistent with what has occurred in this game.
Gameplay: 9/10
- Good combat system that reflects a realistic environment (same enemies remaining at a certain level while Shepard upgrades and becomes better).
- Strategic placement of companions, though this isn't really required to a degree even on Insanity.
- Many ways to play any one given mission, whether dependent on companions, dialogue choices, weapons, etc.
- Insanity is just that - game delivers what it advertises.
- Bonuses and incentives for trying higher difficulties.
- No control problems.
- Sometimes small odd glitches with either animation or character positioning.
- On occasion, fights will get repetitive between the same mission.
- Sudden change of pace from freedom to being forced to decide numerous character fates, but that closes the possibility for a "perfect" ending.
Replayability: 9/10
- Expansion sets.
- New Game +.
- Continue after main game.
- No multiplayer, but doesn't need it.
- Watch Miranda die in each playthrough (no, I kid...mostly).
