0And now the boss refights. We use their weaknesses which cause damage as well as comical effects for some. Afterwards, we reach Dr. Wily's lair. Mega springs a trap that paralyzes him. Dr. Wily prepares to administer a killing blow from the laser cannon on his eighth Wily Machine. Duo arrives to save Mega and take out the cannon. Taking the blast leaves him unable to fight so Proto Man gets him out so Mega, now free of paralyses, takes on Wily Machine 8 alone. Flame Sword is best used for the fight since it disables Wily from using his critical attack in which he opens the skull mouth to charge another laser. Once the machine is destroyed, it's time for the capsule. Even though it's weak to Flash Bomb, it doesn't do diddly squat compared to an arrow shot. I get low on health and decide to use a Rush Charger and hopes he'll drop a Yashichi. Instead, he gives me a small weapon energy. When I'm unable to access another Rush utility, I panic wondering if this is part of the game, only one per stage. I continue the fight and get even lower on health then finally I'm able to access Rush Health. After Wily is defeated, he begs for mercy even though Mega isn't impressed this time. Suddenly, a massive evil energy comes out of the Wily Capsule wreckage and takes hold of Mega while Wily escapes and the Tower self-destructs. Duo finds Mega unconscious outside the ruins of Wily's Tower. Mega's body is infected with Evil Energy, but his mind isn't so there's still time to save him. As Duo extracts the Evil Energy from Mega, he sees into his memories and all the times he's fought for justice and determines that the planet will survive with his help. With the last of the Evil Energy gone, he prepares to leave just as Proto Man shows up. He leaves him a message to give to Mega when he comes to. Mega awakens back at Light's Lab then goes off to find Duo. Proto Man gives Mega the message: "Thank you." Mega, too, expresses his gratitude.
