We've reached the castle of Pete himself, and it is neither short nor easy. With four rooms of platforming, three midbosses (including the bosses from the airship that we hated so much), and the final boss, it's enough to give you a run for your money. The worst parts are the room with the rising fire and the parts with the magic-activated platforms, the latter of which can actually be made unwinnable (at least, without dying) if you get the platform stuck in the wrong place and run out of ammo. (Which seems like such an obvious oversight that I wonder if it was actually tested...) Pete himself mostly isn't that hard, though his fire attack can be hard to react to in time (which is a recurring theme with bosses in this game, actually). After defeating him, obviously, everything is resolved and everyone is happy.

With that, we have finished the third and final Magical Quest game. I'm not sure how to feel about this one, honestly. It had some nice new additions, such as the bonus games and the two characters getting slightly different powerups, and I think it probably had the best soundtrack of the trilogy (though it's hard to say between this one and the first game), but it also had quite a few instances of questionable level design (gotta love things coming in from the top of the screen getting cheap hits on you...and I hated every second I was in the first section of stage 5), and I swear the physics in this game are more slippery than the others, but I'd have to check that. The balance of difficulty also seemed really off, especially with the bosses, which weren't even remotely in order from easiest to hardest and—as I said in the outro—tended to have kind of an extreme contrast in attacks; almost all of them were either nigh-impossible to react to or ridiculously easy to avoid. Still, though, I'd say it's a solid enough entry in the trilogy and worth playing. It's a pity the SNES version never got an official English release, though.

Now, we could end here, but there is another playable character to show off...and I think I might have missed a bonus room or two...
