The Mage's Guild questline is, honestly, a drawn-out joke with a weak punchline. Remember Carahil in Anvil that gave us the recommendation quest? Remember how EVERYTHING she said and claimed was flat-out wrong?

Well, that's basically the entire Mage's Guild in a nutshell. It consists primarily of "go place, set quest flag, kill necromancers, rapport success". There's a whole 1 - read: 1 - non-recommendation quest that doesn't deal with necromancers, and that quest only serves to prove how undeniably DUMB the entire Mage's Guild, from council to associates, is.

But, as always, all in due time. I'll be mowing down these quests one after another, since there's really nothing to do but hit a few flags and then kill some random necromancers. And if there's one thing I'm good at, it's killing.
