Weirdly paced video here, because it was originally... well, I explain it in the commentary. Anyway, this is the first part of me trying to do everything in the postgame except for the actually quite lengthy list of things that I'm saving for later. ... Don't worry, it'll work out.

Also, I lied - The Safari Zone expansion does include Magikarp and Goldeen in the water, so it's not 100% Johto Pokemon, but eh, close enough. And now because I feel like it, here's the distribution of Pokemon 152-251 in the Gen 3 games. Feel free to not read it if you don't want to. And here's the channel I mention at the end of the video:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

[H] means that it's something in the standard Hoenn dex. [A] means that it would have been in the Altering Cave if that thing had ever actually been implemented.

Stuff that was in the Hoenn dex to begin with (some of which are only in the Safari Zone):
- Chinchou family, Natu family, Marill family, Wobbuffet, Girafarig, Heracross, Slugma family, Corsola, Skarmory, Phanpy family

Stuff that can be evolved or bred from standard Kanto dex (and sometimes Hoenn dex) Pokemon:
- Crobat [H], Pichu [H], Cleffa, Igglybuff [H], Bellossom [H], Politoed, Espeon, Umbreon, Slowking, Steelix, Scizor, Kingdra [H], Porygon2, Tyrogue, Hitmontop, Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, Blissey

Stuff in FR/LG, in the Sevii Islands unless stated otherwise:
- Sentret family, Togepi family (received as egg), Natu family [H], Marill (LG only) [H], Hoppip family, Yanma, Murkrow (FR only), Misdreavus (LG only), Unown, Wobbuffet (also found in Cerulean Cave) [H], Dunsparce, Qwilfish (FR only), Heracross [H], Sneasel (LG only), Slugma family [H], Swinub family, Delibird (FR only), Mantine (LG only), Skarmory (FR only) [H], Phanpy family [H], Larvitar family

Stuff in both the Sevii Islands and Emerald's Safari Zone:
- Ledyba family, Spinarak family, Wooper family (FR only), Remoraid family (LG only)

Stuff exclusive to Emerald, in the Safari Zone unless stated otherwise:
- Hoothoot family, Mareep family [A], Sudowoodo (Battle Frontier), Aipom [A], Sunkern family, Pineco family [A], Gligar, Snubbull family, Shuckle [A], Teddiursa family [A], Houndour family [A], Stantler [A], Smeargle (Artisan Cave) [A], Miltank

Starters and legendaries:
- Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile families: Emerald (pick one for completing Hoenn dex), Col (all three found through normal gameplay), XD (pick one for completing Mt Battle in one sitting, can repeat for others)
- Raikou, Entei, and Suicune: FR/LG (one per file, depending on starter), Col (all three found through normal gameplay)
- Lugia: FR/LG/Emerald event island, XD (snag from final boss)
- Ho-oh: FR/LG/Emerald event island, Col (beat Mt. Battle challenge under stupidly unexplained restrictions)
- Celebi: Event only (Japanese Colosseum bonus disc)

With Colosseum, everything in the last four categories is available except for Unown, Lugia, and Celebi. It also has Heracross, Slugma, and Skarmory, which are already in all five GBA games (except Skarmory, which isn't in LG). It's not necessary to complete a collection (except for Ho-oh), but it makes things a hell of a lot easier.

XD has a random smattering of Pokemon from all three gens with no real logic behind it whatsoever, and there's no way in hell I'm marking off everything that's in that game. It's entirely unnecessary for a complete collection unless you want Lugia, but it does a good job of filling in the stuff missing from R/S/E (I think the only exclusive it doesn't have is Seviper), and a good number of FR/LG exclusives, but nowhere near all of them. It's notably missing Slowpoke (which is ONLY found in LeafGreen - one out of SEVEN games in Gen 3), and most of the version-exclusive Johto Pokemon, which are annoying enough to track down as it is, as this list has certainly proven.
