Let's Play Pokemon Heart Gold! Mt. Silver and Pokemon Trainer Red!
Red is probably the biggest challenge in the game. However, with a little preparation, you can take him down even with a team of level 65 pokemon.
Throughout the battle there will be hail, which deals a little damage to your pokemon at the end of your turn unless your pokemon is an ice-type. As a sub-effect, it allows Blizzard to always hit.
Pikachu is actually a pretty decent lead for Red as it's fast and it deals quite a bit of damage. However, it'll go down in one hit from a fairly strong attack due to its low defenses.
Blastoise is a fairly decent challenge, but he isn't too difficult. He's a tank like plenty of other pokemon in his team. Blastoise has slightly lower defense than special defense, but it's not that big of a difference so just utilize super effective attacks and take him down.Things might be different if he were my dad though (LOL GAMEFAQS MEME).
Venusaur! Another tankish pokemon in Red's team. Like Red's other pokemon, he'll do decent damage while being able to take damage. Take it out as fast as you can. Venusaur has lower defense than special defense, but it's hardly a difference.
Lapras! The third tankish pokemon in Red's team. As good of defenses it has, it'll go down quickly to any super effective attacks which it has plenty of. Compared to the rest of the tanks in Red's team, it lacks in both defense and special defense.
Charizard is one of the two non-tankish pokemon in Red's team (the other being Pikachu). It boasts great strength and speed. However, it has a x4 weakness to rock, so utilize that.
Snorlax is one of the stronger pokemon in Red's team, but nonetheless, it's quite tankish. It has a high special defense, attack, and HP stat. It's defense is nothing to laugh at either. However, I would recommend attack it with physical attacks since it's the weaker stat.
(Information based on base stats from Bulbapedia)
I was quite lucky for Red not to switch out any pokemon on me, but then again I am quite awesome.
