Let's Play Resident Evil 4 (Blind) Part 18 - Playing As Ashley And Getting Past The Ornament Wall
Continuing on from the previous part, I solve a sliding puzzle as Ashley.
Solving this puzzle unlocks a door that leads to a room that contains the Salazar family insignia and the serpent ornament.
This insignia is needed to unlock a secret passageway leading out to where Leon is. (I don't know that at the time, but that is what it leads to!)
But upon picking up the insignia and ornament, the suits of armour come to life and attack! (Called it!)
With no way to defend ourselves, we have to run past these suits of armour, and then dodge a few more on the way out of this area.
After escaping into a safe room, (It doesn't have a save point, but it's pretty much a safe room!) I read a note from the butler that explains how Salazar was manipulated by Saddler, and then use the crank with the insignia to reveal a ladder that leads up to a secret passageway.
Going through this secret passageway leads us to the top of the large open room where Leon is.
After reuniting with Ashley, Salazar calls us again to taunt us.
Once that brief call is over, I backtrack to the merchant to sell some stuff and buy the newest case upgrade. (I also buy another weapon upgrade.)
Moving on from there, I head down the hall in the large open room to get to the next area.
Finding some kind of wheel mechanism that we can ride on, Leon tells Ashley to wait on one side, and then we head on over to a new area on our own.
And oh boy! This castle is just full of unexpected areas!
This new area has a freaking pit of lava around it! (How did Salazar even make this room!?)
And on top of that, there are also some moveable fire breathing dragon statue things that the cultists use to attack us from a distance!
To get to the end of this room to obtain the treasure, we have to take out all of the enemies that show up, along with the ones controlling the dragon head statues. (The ones on the dragon head statues are a bit tricky to take out!)
After eventually taking out all of the enemies, I obtain the lion ornament and some other treasures.
With the lion ornament obtained, I backtrack out of this area to meet back up with Ashley.
Before heading to where I need to go next, I do some backtracking to get to that one room on the outside area of the castle that I couldn't get into. (I also sell some treasure to the merchant.)
After taking out a few enemies along the way, I arrive at the locked room and lift Ashley up to the window so that she can get inside and unlock the door.
So what is in this little room? Some treasure, a red herb, and most important of all, a broken butterfly! (I may have missed the free shotgun in this playthrough, but at least I didn't miss the free magnum!)
After picking up this nice collection of loot, I backtrack to where I need to go.
Getting on board some sort of roller coaster car, we ride down to the entrance of the castle.
With all three ornaments obtained, I place them onto the ornament wall.
Upon doing that, the wall lowers, and the way to the next area is unlocked.
And what will the next area be like? And where will it lead? Find out in the next part!
