Let's Play Sonic 3D Blast Part 1: Isometric Platforming, My One Weakness (Captain Slow in 3D)
New LP! This time it's the Genesis/Mega Drive version of Sonic 3D Blast, with isometric platforming (oh joy) and birds to rescue. The style shift and objective are a bit different, but the sense of speed can still be present (however, I play this slowly, as I am gaming's Captain Slow)! As much as I dislike isometric platforming, I still like them for the most part, including this game.
This first part is Green Grove Zone, which isn't quite a hill, but still very green.
I also have the Saturn version of this game, which I may do at a later date. It's the same level layouts, but the graphics, textures, music, sound effects, and visual effects have all been enhanced to take advantage of the Saturn's hardware. The Special Stages in the Saturn version are much better than the Genesis/Mega Drive version as well (The Saturn version's Special Stages are reminiscent of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Special Stages). The Saturn version lacks saving between levels though (whereas the PC version had a save system), so the Saturn version has to be completed in one sitting, so finding time to get the Saturn version fully recorded could be tricky. Overall, though, the enhancements to the Saturn/PC version are nice (especially the improved Special Stages), however lengthy load times on the Saturn version are annoying.
Sorry about the quality.
