28They appear to be fighting each other in the first half of this game!
I have a theory on all of this. Birds were always the bigger constant threat even when popcorn was assaulting me heavily, but after a major defeat in Crystalis, the Popcorn Organization backed off, and during this time they realized something - if they teamed up with the birds and won, the birds would wipe them out!
Instead, they are currently busy with trying to defeat the birds themselves, since the birds would surely win against them. They're even giving me popcorn guns!
Maybe by helping me, they probably feel I will be an easier target to take out on their own later. But that doesn't matter right now! The birds have grown too powerful for either of us!
..perhaps I think about these things too much.
