Hello everyone, and welcome back to my let's play of SpaceVenture!

Last time I couldn't write much about the actual story of the game. In other games, like Space Quest, there's a backstory available in the manual. SpaceVenture have some synopses online, at the Kickstarter page and such, but I would love something more. Well, the game project isn't completely finished yet, they are patching the game some more for the upcoming Steam release. A manual explaining the game and more goodies like in the good old days of Space Quest would be lovely. Anyway, now I can atleast write about what happened in the last episode.

The story begins at the research station Nostrodomus, where things seem not right. Escape pods leaving the station at the same time a vehicle from Galaxy Rooter docks. A short elevator ride introduces us to our hero, Ace Hardway, with personnel running in panic on the inside. He is able to catch the attention of the acting facility manager, Mr Spleen, on the other side of the airlock door. With some twisting and turning, the door opens. Mr. Spleen isn't that helpful, he can only tell about something blocking the reactor cooling systems, then he runs off. Couldn't even show the way to the cafeteria...

Anyway, finally inside, Ace introduces his trusted companion, his robot tool-box dog Rooter. He can't even get a few steps in before he's interrupted by his new handy app, IMom, his own virtual mother who 'helps' any way she can. But not without some nagging. After trying some exploring Ace get his way cut off by a rupturing cooling pipe, spewing steam in his way. He manages to find a wall panel behind a janitor's cart which he can't open it yet. But on the cart he finds a staff keycard. Going back the way he came, he pushes some crates aside and gets access to the supply closet.

Inside he finds more crates in the way, and something snoring behind them. One of the crates rests on a lift. Too bad that the controls are on the other side. But he lets Rooter crawl back there and get the lift moving. Now that Ace can get back there we can see that the snoring came from the station janitor. He decides to let him rest. On a clothes line we can see a familiar looking janitor uniform. Well, it might be a coincidence (Starcon has a huge graps over the quadrant). On the janitor's workbench Ace finds some food, some good for consumption, and some greasy fries which might be useful for other things. He also finds some dinglebolt sockets, perfect for the weird bolts we've seen so far.

Back in the corridor with the pipe steaming, Ace is now able to remove the wall panel with Rooter's head. Sensing that the inside is too dangerous to crawl inside, Ace sends Rooter instead. He makes it to the other side and manages to close the valve of the steam pipe. Ace continues to the elevator hallway, which is crawling with Roombot sanitizers. It's too dangerous to go to the elevator so he runs across the room to a laboratory.

In there, we can see how the Nostrodomus researchers has developed a creature that has grown a bit too much for the liking. One specimen tank is broken. So one fast growing creature is loose somewhere on the station. In the lab Ace also finds a remote control to stop the Roombots in the other room. Now that it's safe to board the elevator, Ace makes his way to the recreational floor.

The cafeteria is closed (dang), not even the Soylent Smoothee dispenser is working. The toilets works though, very luxurious. Next to that is a hallway with access to the escape pods. All seems to have gone, except one. Might be a good idea to make a note of that, just in case.

And with that, we're ready to join Ace as he continues his search to fix the cooling reactor...
