Spec Ops: The Line, produced by 2K Games (a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc.), and developed by Yager Development, was released on 26 June 2012 in North America and 29 June 2012 in Europe. A game focused on storyline, visual effect, and difficult moral decisions, you don't need to play too long before you realize: this is not your typical third-person shooter (TPS)!
On the XBox 360 (on which this LP was made), basic game mechanics are the same / very similar to other TPS games: X is reload / pick up, A is jump / interact / take cover, B is melee / vault over an obstacle, Y is switch weapons. LT is aim, RT is shoot, RB is issue an order, LB is indicate a target for your soldiers.
When massive, cataclysmic sandstorm lay waste to once-opulent Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the United States military is sent to assist with evacuation and other needs. When it becomes clear not all will evacuation in time, Colonel John Konrad remains behind with the 33rd Battalion (U.S. Army) to help those who could not escape.
Six months later, Captain Martin Walker, a former colleague of Col. Konrad, is sent to investigate radio transmissions from Konrad that are suddenly received with out of the blue. Taking fellow Delta Force soldiers Lieutenant Alphanso Adams and Sergeant John Lugo with him, the player assumes the role of Capt. Walker.
