Having successfully beaten back The Rat a couple of times, our popularity is starting to increase and our conquests are being told throughout the land. Various lords rebelling against the four tyrants have come to us for aid, the most prevalent being Lord Manikin. We have been promoted to head of the rebel troops. Trying to prevent an uprising, The Wolf has intimidated The Rat into laying a siege on Manikin. To ensure one of our strongest supporters does not fall, plus to perhaps further encourage others to join us, we have sent a small army to Manikin's garrison by boat, arriving while the siege is already underway. We will need to be quick to react to the ongoing fight, then build up our defenses before the larger armies arrive.

The biggest new addition to this level is the addition of a second Military Unit to support our Archers, Spearmen. We have seen this massive militia being used by the enemy, but have been unable to create them ourselves up to this point. Spearmen are created at a Poleturner's Workshop, which is extremely similar to the other form of Workshop. The Workshop and Spearmen are cheaper in gold than their Archer equivalents, which allows for a larger number to be created in a short time.

Spearmen have a few uses when defending a castle, though they are quite weak and do best when sent in large numbers. The first use and the primary one I tend to use is as a form of defense for those that break through the Archers, a large number can be held in the keep to combat the melee units that charge into the structure while the Archers can remain at the back with the lord to cut down the hoard. This usage will dwindle when we get other melee units, though another beneficial usage is the ability to knock down laddermen. As laddermen are spammed at us in large numbers, allowing the enemy's Spearmen to easily overwhelm us, it is great to have a way to quickly chop back the amount that can get on the walls. They also can be used to take out siege engines when the forces have been weakened, though this use isn't that beneficial in my opinion since siege engines tend to be distracted with the outer walls and aren't necessary to be destroyed to fend off the enemy's attacks.

Having defeated The Rat once again, it is becoming more apparent that he is quickly running out of lands. The Snake, finding us the stronger of the combatants, is willing to come to an arrangement to eliminate The Rat.
