Let's Play Heretic Blind (Black Plague) - Part 53 - New Experiences and Rip Offs
0The finale to the Heretic playthrough! We have taken over a year to complete it, but we have made it through the entirety of this game while not using a single item beyond healing materials.
I start off by ripping off the audience with a terrible Newgrounds game called Hammer Time just to do something random while waiting for the actual playthrough to start. They begged me not to include this and I did it anyway!
E5M6 is nothing special since we already made it through the level previously, but E5M7 is much more exciting since it is where I left off on the video series prior to my hard drive troubles. This turns out to be quite a painful level with snipers everywhere, plus me wandering around aimlessly trying to figure out what I am doing.
E5M8 is another rip off though. I assume almost immediately it will spam me with Maulotaurs, which it does, but in such a way that the level is quite open and easy to navigate. We end up taking less time to kill eight maulotaurs then we did the one in E5M4, meanwhile realizing that the story makes absolutely no sense. The ending makes me feel ripped off.
We also check out the three bonus levels of Episode 6. The first reminds me of early Doom WADs, being hard corridor runs where you need to learn the proper route to go to acquire weapons. Due to a lack in balance, we end up overstocked by the end.
E6M2 is perhaps my favorite level in the game. It reminds me of Tomb Raider and feels like a level that could have been made more recently. I don't like some of the maze-like sections, but overall the quality feels pretty good. Sadly I assume I need to conserve, so I spend a lot of time saving weaponry for more Maulotaurs that never show up.
E6M3 is a massive rip off, being basically a deathmatch level with a few enemies. After everything we went through, it feels rather quick and pointless, plus the lack of ending leaves even less satisfaction in my mouth.
