Stage 1's not too bad, but even for an early game it can go on a little long for the amount of moves you have. Learn to rely on your throw and jump sttacks, and spam specials if you're at 1 HP, and hopefully you'll survive. Stage 2 starts off a little weird due to the surfing section, but once you get on solid ground there are a lot of hazards around that are pretty easy to avoid. Stage 3 has some weird pitfall hazards compared to most of the game, but the weirdest part is the sudden midboss.
