This game is simply titled “The Beginner’s Guide”. By the writer and creator of The Stanley Parable, Davey Wreden, The Beginner’s Guide is another “out-of-the-box” unusual narrative experience. Very little information was available about The Beginner’s Guide prior to release -- “The Beginner's Guide is a narrative video game for Mac and PC. It tells the story of a person struggling to deal with something they do not understand.” That’s literally all the trailer of The Beginner’s Guide says. As The Stanley Parable was known for its groundbreaking narrative experience, many are equally excited for what The Beginner’s Guide has to bring.
This let’s play of The Beginner’s Guide shows the beginning (ha) and introduction of The Beginner’s Guide gameplay and story. In this The Beginner’s Guide gameplay video, Wreden himself introduces us to a game developer friend of his named "Coda" whose game creations we look through. Coda made dozens of games from 2008 - 2011, ranging from abstract games with profound messages to endless prisons. However, he has since become withdrawn and disappeared. Wreden claims to be publishing this collection in an attempt to find Coda and let him know how many people enjoy his work.
Each person’s computer files are very private and give a glimpse into what a person is like… thus, these files are The Beginner’s Guide to this person. This story is essentially the "beginner's guide" to Coda as a person... or, is it?
This let’s play of The Beginner’s Guide gameplay video was captured on the PC version on release date (no patches applied). The Beginner’s Guide was announced a mere 2 days on Wreden’s personal Twitter account before it was released on October 1, 2015, on PC and Mac.
