You can tell I was looking forward to this mission. XD
In thisepisode, before shipping out to March's story mission, I go and give Isara her class change to Fencer! Fencers are slower than Armored Techs and lose their ability to repair sandbags and disarm mines, but they gain a lot of HP, Defense, and now use a sword! This sword does massive damage to infantry units and can dent some armored units, too. Definitely my favorite class in VCII.
After that, I continue Magari's backstory chain. After being called dumb, Avan quizzes Magari's knowledge on a cerulean scarab. She gets the textbook answer right, but she's not 100% correct, as Welkin appears and so says. There's a bit of something extra that Magari has to see for herself if we take a trip to Leanbluff Forest...
Speaking of, that's our story destination! Class G's been given the honor of protecting a VIP using their escort APC to do so. We have to get 'em through Leanbluff Forest, and we even get a tank to help out! However, all is not what it seems as rebel forces have been littered across the forest and...Dirk and Baldren are with them!
...wait, what's that blue...oh no! OH CRAP, NO!!
March's story mission is your first escort mission, in which you have to make use of the escort APC and get it from Point A to Point B. However, it won't be very easy. This is also your first foray with Dirk Gassenarl and his legion of V2s, artificial mass-produced Valkyria.
If you remember Maximillian in the end of the first game, these will ring a bell. V2s are powerful and mobile, able to use both a standard gatling beam and a beam cannon to inflict pain to infantry units. They don't dodge attacks, but instead use their big shields to lessen damage. They have insane attack, defense, and accuracy, and even invulnerable to critical hits(outside of some Potentials)! But much like Max, these V2s have a weakness: a supply vehicle. In the same area a V2 is, there is most likely a supply vehicle powering them. Destroy it and you lessen all of their stats and make them vulnerable to critical hits again. Dirk applies to all of the above, but his attacks are far more lethal(able to easily scrap Medium Tanks) and he has more AP.
As soon as the mission starts, make a beeline for the right camp on the APC's starting area. Get the APC out of there ASAP, or Dirk will cripple it. Dirk won't follow unless he absolutely wants to. In the next area, there's a supply vehicle to your second team's immediate right, so destroy it to leave the 2 V2s in the area vulnerable. V2s are tough, but they are best dealt with from afar. Snipers, mortars, grenades, and especially Fencers work very well against dispatching these guys. If you have a Fencer by now, definitely use them as your vanguard in dealing with V2s here. It shouldn't take too much worry to go through from there.
