Gah.. after attempting to find ANY way to progress, I ended up finding a bizarre "loading screen" that never loads. I was forced to refresh and start from scratch. Several hours later after redoing the whole thing like three times and looking around blindly, I discovered what to do.

I then continue from there, finally making some progress.
