May the odds be ever in your favour.
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is a 2002 real-time strategy video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the squeal to Warcraft II: Beyond the dark Portal and the previous Warcraft titles.
Several years before the events of the games, a demon army known as the Burning Legion intent on Azeroth's destruction corrupted a race called the Orcs, and sent them through a portal to attack Azeroth. After many years of fighting, the Orcs were defeated by a coalition of humans, dwarves and elves known as the Alliance.
The surviving combatants were herded into internment camps, where they seemed to lose their lust for battle. With no common enemy, a period of peace followed, but the Alliance began to fracture. The events of Warcraft III occur after a timeskip from Warcraft II.
This period was originally intended to have been documented in Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans, but that game was cancelled in mid-development. However, the events of the game were used as the basis for the novel Lord of the Clans.
In addition to the establish Human and Orc factions, Warcraft III features two new races: The Undead and the Night Elves. Each race has its own campaign. The campaigns are laid out similarly to those of StarCraft, being told through all four of the game's races in a progressive manner. In addition to that, there is a fifth prologue campaign focussing on Thrall, the new leader of the Horde.
