Survival mode always seems very old school to me. Back in the early days of gaming, all games were survival mode. There was no end objective except the high score. Just a battle of attrition between your available resources and what the developers thought was "fair." While it can be nice to get back to gaming's roots, it's a tough line to walk to make the mode both fun and engaging, and I'm not sure all the right notes were hit in this one.
