Let's Play Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone PT27 - The Blazing Emperor, Gulcasa!
IS YOUR BODY READY!?
At last, Yggdra and her friends square off against the Bronquian Emperor, Gulcasa! Being a major enemy in this game, Gulcasa is no slouch in a fight. He's a Dragon Knight, our first scythe opponent. Being a scythe user already gives him a natural advantage over half of your team. Move - Dragon lets him get around nearly anywhere, bypassing others like Move - Horse, and even able to cross(but not stand on) water! The dude has natural Fire aggressiveness and voids Fire attacks. His stats are also no joke, and he's equipped with a pretty good weapon, the Early Drive.
The worst thing about Gulcasa, however, is the card he brings with him: Genocide! Aptly named, Genocide will wreck everything once its activated. Its primary effect is that it boosts Gulcasa's fighting ability as the head of his team, then sacrifices his entire team to significantly raise it even higher! Any one unit will just raise it by the truckload, so you can see that this is a VERY bad thing with a full team. After it's activated, your Skill Gauge breaks, disabling your skills and powers. If Gulcasa wins under this effect, a +30% Morale damage bonus is added to his Morale damage(+50% if you're playing the GBA version!).
Needless to say, Gulcasa's title of Emperor of Carnage(in this language at least) is well deserved.
How do you face a man like this? It's time to play smart. For starters, I hope you brought Gravity Chaos; its effect will be a great help to dismantling Gulcasa(or just anyone who doesn't void status, but Gulcasa especially). You'll need someone with at least 3 TEC to get the effect to work, though, and remember: its Ace type is Axe, so use Milanor or any one with the Boss Bandana to get set up. Curse will slow Gulcasa's attacks down, even under Genocide's effect!(though if he still has a full party when he activates it, you're still pretty much fucked.)
PSP users are lucky that they have Mistel, a fellow scythe user, to employ. She is neutral to Gulcasa's attacks, but her low stats may not make her viable. If you fed her the Gold Dozeu like I did, she stands that much more of a chance against him. Oblivious Dawn's effect will help repel Genocide for a much longer time, though it still requires Mistel to lead the union. Your staff user is also neutral. Roswell has the benefit of going aggressive, while Rosary naturally voids Gulcasa's aggressive attacks. Don't be afraid to summon a Skeleton/Golem if you want to use a scapegoat.
This WILL be rough for first time players, but if you use your head, you can make it.
After Gulcasa goes down, the empire retreats and Paltina is freed! Well, that was a short game, hope you've enjoyed Yggdra Un--wait, Yggdra? What are you doing? NO!
