This is an updated version of the original game. If you have Freespace 2 you should run the free open source installer http://scp.indiegames.us/
it will update Freespace 2 game with new textures and graphical effects and a free version of Freespace The Great War, called FSPort which was actually recreated as a mod using the new Freespace 2 open source project.
When you run the installer it will give you the option to download the FS Port too. More information here http://www.fsoinstaller.com/
