There's a thing in this game where the plot summarizes or carries things off-screen to speed up development. Sometimes this is done very well and is on point, and then you have incidents like this one. It just tells you what happened while it could have given you some chance to alter some details of the story or affect affection levels and such like that. It just felt like even more of a plot breaker than the monotonous parade of orange balls.
