I almost never have a surplus of funds on hand in this game. I'm either haven't trained and equipped my adventurers quite as much as I could have or I have treatments to give. The game doesn't quite make getting ahead of the curve possible though the first couple of times you come back with 20k+ currency certainly makes you feel like it. Failing a mission or having to abandon it, often finds you in a pitiable state of finances as a result.
