Let's rant about how bad the Playstation Classic is!
13Short little rant video I threw together in 40 minutes to highlight some actual issues with the damn thing and to rant\vent a bit about how bad it is :-P.
KEY POINTS AGAINST THE MACHINE :
-5 known games, 15 unknown games
-Are these games static and unchanging?
-Are the other 15 ours to pick from a library for that price?
-What features will the machine come with?
-What *limitations* will the machine come with?
WE KNOW NONE OF THESE BASIC THINGS.
I've already seen people pre-ordering the fucking machine without knowing what the other 15 games on it will be, what limitations or capabilities it will have. THIS IS HARMFUL. You are rewarding bad products, their bad reveals, and are putting your money down for products that contain things that should - 20 years later, arguably - BE FREE. Nintendo did this with the NES and SNES classic and it was absolutely heartbreaking to see blind nostalgia selling that well.
Nintendo doing well is why Sony has made this move, no doubt. It hurts me more *as* a Sony fan because I expected more out of them, instead of turning around and cheaply trying to say "Remember all the fun you had 24 years ago? GIVE US MONEY!".
I don't expect to be popular for making this little rant - someone I thought a friend already lost their shit and treated me like dirt over me simply telling him to research the damn thing before he preorders it. Fans of all kinds will behave awfully, though I'm hoping my regulars are better than that :-).
But this has to be said. You will never be a kid again. You will never see the world in all the colors, or appreciate what you used to love like how you used to love it. To keep letting companies walk over you and even *reward* them for it with insulting offerings like this is not right. I firmly believe in legacy software going free, or entering a price range of a few dollars - at the most.
In the end, this is a futile cry out into the universe for people to stop begging to be taken advantage of, or at least exercise the absolute bare minimums in patience and logic to try and *look* at what they're willing to blindly pay for before they do it.
"I can just cancel my preorder later" is not a helpful attitude to have when preorders are so important to the Industry that they can look at the peak preorders for this and justify anything else later!
