To be entirely fair, the Queen Metroid fight is hard as hell, but there's definitely some jank here.

Also I forgot to say all of what I meant to, I think. This game's pretty okay, except the devs didn't really know what to do with an end game. Unlike Metroid 1, the exploration is much more "naturalistic," I guess, for lack of a better term. The game does ease you into the sense of trying to figure out how to find secrets in hidden places and has a lot of places where necessary items are blocked by more obvious, er, blocks... than in Metroid 1. They have that part down pat. But the fact that i-frames seem to be a suggestion most of the time and your comical amount of knockback, combined with your very low energy, makes it easy to get steamrolled by even things that do nothing, like Queen Metroid's puke here. I think a lot of the questionable control response involved here had more to do with running this on the 'cube than on an actual Game Boy. I remember it working a lot better on that.
