Let's Talk About Angel Dust, Valentino, and Exclusion Within Communities.

This is a bit of a more serious one. I'm devastated by my friend (who I will not be naming) who banned me because I claimed that I liked Valentino. It was a small roleplay server and I don't want anyone to go find it, I just feel horrible about it and really wish I just hadn't told them that I liked Valentino.

It inspired me to make a video talking about how Angel Dust and Valentino fans are at each other's throats. I personally love both of those characters and think Angel Dust has the most character growth AND character expansion in the entire series. Valentino, on the other hand, is the most well-fledged out villain.

I mostly ramble in this video, as for all my regular videos, because I struggle to make a coherent thought, so I apologize for those coming for a video that's actually understandable. Just... For the love of all that is unholy:

Stop gatekeeping a community just because someone likes a character or doesn't like a character.

I get this video may seem unhinged or like I just want to get back at my ex-friend but that is not the case. I see it on every youtube comment section and pretty much every twitter comment section on the platforms. Anything involving Valentino will ALWAYS have an abundance of people saying stuff like "Valentino fans always try do defend his actions bc they probably do the same thing" or "People who like Valentino have probably assaulted someone".

These are real comments I have seen on some of these videos and shorts. It's disgusting. If you are one of these people, you know who you are, and you seriously should rethink what you say. You are intentionally excluding a group of people just because you disagree with what they like. It's messed up.

Another thing I would like to mention is that when I see comments like this, it actually does hurt. You can hate Valentino all you like, but I have never physically hurt or harmed anyone. I, myself, am a victim of SA and I'm not afraid to say that I still really love Valentino, my friends all know this. It doesn't mean I'm silencing people who are victims of SA, it means that this is how I feel about the situation.

I also feel that we all cope differently and we all process things differently. Immaturity isn't an insult, it's an observation, and I don't intend to come off as rude. When people are immature, they often don't realize that excluding others can cause emotional hurt and saying things like "You are a pimp if you like a character who is a pimp" is extremely immature and very rude. Then again: what else should one expect by going onto twitter?

Finally, I would like to ask that as a community, we stop excluding other people based on their likes and dislikes and let people enjoy things within the fandom. I can hate the fact that Adam died, or I can want to re-write Adam's character all I want, but that doesn't mean I'm going to start witch-hunting other people who liked that he died or liked his humor or character. There's so much more to be said on the topic, I might go live giving a full extent/rundown of how I feel while playing a game or something, but I really just want people to stop excluding people like me and other people who like certain characters solely based on the characters they like.
