Welcome to the desert! It's full of puzzles and ennui!
Okay, so from what I can tell of this game: For some reason, we are trapped? in a desert world that's full of ancient puzzles, possibly trying to track down the guy that came before us. He left notes detailing his bad decision-making and generally not-a-great-person actions, and we're just sorta following along behind him. Why? I have no idea. There are, however, puzzles to solve... and isn't that enough?
Faraway: Puzzle Escape is the first in a series of games that were originally mobile games released in 2017. This directors cut takes those mobile games, and reconstructs them to be enjoyable on a desktop. the graphics are minimal but enjoyable, the music loops are great, and they added a narrator for the notes that could either be your therapist, your daddy, or both! Some puzzles have been adjusted and restructured slightly from the mobile version, but overall seems to be a pretty similar experience.
Overall I rather enjoyed the game, and I will be finishing it off-screen, though I stand by my position that hiding basically all of the story in these notes that are weirdly hard to find is an... interesting position to take. Also a couple of the puzzles' solutions were... well I wasn't impressed, but you'll never bat 100 when making puzzles games.
