The Recipe of Madness is a spooky game where you are trapped in a house and have to figure out either a: what's going on and/or b: how to get out. The suggested playtime is 30 minutes (which I think is a total lie), and it really did spook me out! Two solid jumpscares got me before I got locked out of progressing due to my own cowardice creating an edge-case bug. Woops! My biggest complaint is that it is so very, very dark. Like "is my monitor broken?" dark.
Flashover MegaSector is a love letter to flash-based SHMUPS from the halcyon days of the Internet of yore. It's got a deceptively bright and simple art direction, which hides an absolute grind of a game. It's actually extremely challenging and I found myself getting tilty. You can 100% master the game, as there's basically no RNG. everything is a pattern that can be learned: I'm just bad at learning under stress like that.
Watchlist is a top-down, twin-stick shoot n' move with a simple (but effective art direction) a banging song (that I wish there was more variation of), and some really cool gun augmentations. You can get powerups to change how your weapon works, like bouncing bullets, lasers, exploding on impact, and multishot. They all work together, so when you max out your powerups, things get absolutely buck-wild. I really enjoyed my time with Watchlist, even if the plot (such that there is) is wildly transparent and heavy-handed.
