Luminous corridor 0 is a frantic twin "stick" shooter rogue game. It has a lot, visually, going on and death comes quickly. Your job is to shoot everything and survive the waves. Basically everything that touches you will kill you, and the map is ever-changing. Loads of enemies with their own movement and attack patterns some of which simply add more "terrain" to the map. It was really interesting but I really struggled with the reversed controls and the punchy colours.
Solitune is an artistic and philosophical walk through the mind of someone sick of working their desk job. There is for sure a message here about getting away and disconnecting, one which is handled with very little subtlety. The music and visuals are great, and the game doesn't out-stay its welcome with it's run time. Interesting and chill.
Sightline is an extremely interesting puzzle game that offers the following premise: What if you had to explore a 3 dimensional space, but only had 2 dimensional input? It's a game that really forces you to conceptualize the space based on the limited information you can get from the sightline and overhead map provided. I really enjoyed myself, but I can imagine someone with aphantasia finding this basically impossible.
Cosmic Express is a puzzle game where you have to build a railroad to pick up and drop off aliens. It's a simple mechanic but the puzzles get absolutely fiendish. That last puzzle had me and my chat really having a hard look at ourselves and how smart we thought we were. It was humbling.
Flat Kingdom is a platforming adventure in the Flat Kingdom. Someone (a fox) is stealing the 5? jewels that maintain balance and peace in the world, and you, a knight that can change shapes (which in turn changes what abilities your character can do). You set off across the kingdom to track down the fox and foil their plan. It's a cute game, and the core mechanics make for some legitimately interesting gameplay. It does suffer somewhat in that the controls feel a bit clunky at times, and the textures of the world do start to get a bit samey after a while. I also wish the bosses were a bit more complex than they are. I also wish my controller had actually worked. It recommends using one, but the itch.io version does not work _at all_ with a controller.
