I got this game through the itch.io racial justice bundle.

Gosh there's so much promise to this game, and it just... doesn't deliver. I had to get that out of the way before I get into how much there is to enjoy with such a simple concept of a game.

You are an adventurer (one of 4 classes) and you have to fight baddies to level up. Every time you do you can increase a stat. Once all the stats are maxed out, you can fight the Evil Wizard and save the day. Combat has light/medium/hard attacks both physical and magical, as well as defending, potion use, etc. There are 2 (that I know of) random events where you can get a potion or a scroll that either help or hurt you. There's an in where you can spend your coin to heal, meditate, or buy potions.

The game was made for a gamejam, and the theme was 64x64. This game absolutely delivers on that front. The game is indeed 64x64 and it uses the space extremely well. Some of the text can be difficult to read, but I managed. I really enjoyed the core loop of this game, but sadly there's not really much else to it, and after half an hour I'd only maxed out one stat. I'm not willing to put 5~ more hours into the grind just to get one-shot by the boss.

There's so much potential here, if only there were more events, mobs, and maybe more to the village. It could all be done through the existing interface, I think, but it's just not there, so it gets boring.

Would make a hell of a watch app, though.
