Light No Fire : The New Open World MMO From No Man's Sky Devs
Light No Fire is an open world multiplayer RPG from the developers from Hello Games, the makers of No Man's Sky : And it appears they are using the tech from No Man's Sky to develop Light No Fire which focuses on being an open world fantasy world with many of the freedoms that No Man's Sky has but focused on one giant world that they claim is the size of the actual physical Planet Earth. This is something we might laugh about years ago as impossible, but with the scope of No Man's Sky, I believe this is true : using their procedural generation tools they used for No Man's Sky, Light No Fire could actually pull this off : Now that's not to say that everything in Light No Fire will be procedural, I'm sure there will be sections of the game made by hand, but in order to produce THAT MUCH land, that much content, it would take a large deal of procedural generation to pull off. Is Light No Fire the FIRST of taking AI to the next level in order to produce something previously impossible? Well, today, we're going to talk about everything we KNOW about Light No Fire including new information since the trailer was released, how MMO this game is probably going to be, along with why I'm excited for it and of course, do some speculation on what this project could turn out to be like and my hopes for Light No Fire!
Light No FIre is a similiar vibe and feel and vision to No Man's Sky, but in this case, Hello Games is focusing on one single planet : And since they are doing that instead of the wide reaches of space, it means this world is going to be huge, and they are of course going for an open world, survival RPG : Allowing you to freely explore, conquer, build and ride across the lands on fantasy-based mounts. The massive size of the world is said to be the actual size of Planet Earth which means true discoveries by players where that creature will forever show it was discovered by your character. It's an incredibly ambitious project, and we can't go too far into this without talking about how Hello Games released No Man's Sky : Sure it's fantastic and delivers everything promised TODAY, but at release, it wasn't actually multiplayer. I would THINK that Hello Games has learned form No Man's Sky : Their first release, and Light No Fire will release in a promised state, but I would be remiss not to at least mention it.
Light No Fire focuses on being multiplayer, we aren't sure how many people can be in a single shared world, however it sounds like it will NOT just be 4 players or some other small group only because they mention "Finding other players out in the world" so I expect some sort of tech like No Man's Sky uses so that there are technically lobbies sharing the same world : so if you invite someone to a party they are automatically pulled into your version of the world, and other than that, you can run across people who are also in your lobby by chance. Of course, there could be some changes to the tech for their new game, so I'll keep you updated on this information as we find out : but one thing that is for certain is that : as you make discoveries it will upload it to the main server so that all will see your character's name as the person who discovered it. All of this : From the size of the world to the discoveries and multiplayer features may seem bizarre: Unless you played No Man's Sky, in which case, you understand why this is so exciting.
