Ashes of Creation Big Updates & Alpha 2 News
77Ashes of Creation is a highly anticipated MMORPG in development and in a recent December developer update for Ashes of Creation we finally got a release time for Alpha 2 : Where Ashes of Creation will be playable and all the features they have been working on for this new MMO will be shown and playable for those with Alpha access. We're going to be talking about the Alpha 2 release Atime for Ashes, the updates, the most exciting features and what Ashes of Creation needs to nail to be the next BIG thing for the MMORPG genre.
First up for the update to Ashes of Creation, we got the Ranger archetype shown off and the skill tree including the weapon skill tree : the weapon skill tree allows you to add passives or to make your combos more powerful. We can see a lot of improvements as some of the combat is shown : including how damage is shown on the screen is looking really clean and the animations in my opinion are looking great. I'd also like to take a moment to talk about the snow effects and how it looks across the terrain : Ashes of Creation has a full weather system that changes by the season : this isn't JUST for visual flair but also will effect what passes and roads will be open while traveling or bringing large amounts of supplies by caravan and also will change the kind of enemies and monsters you encounter.
They also showed off the Ranger doing an airstrike, which allows you to change direction in the air during the attack : This is going ot come in handy during tricky fights and will add a lot to the gameplay for the Ranger class. Airstrike adds a ton of mobility to the Ranger and looks like it will be a key ability for the class.
Overall, Ashes of Creation appears to be coming along and looking great : I am glad that they understand that combat is going to be the key and it has to be great and addicting and multi-layered and complex and yet easy to understand and from what we've seen, it looks like Ashes of Creation is coming along great. They mentioned that they aren't focusing on balancing yet for the classes, and that makes a lot of sense, until the players test and give the data, there is no need for developers to waste time on balancing : The players are going to wreck your ideas within minutes. They spoke on chipping away at the META through a Rock, Paper, Scissor type approach.
They updated on respeccing : They want respeccing your class abilities and skill trees to be easy but respecing archteypes they feel should not be able to be done of the fly.
Ashes of Creation now has over 170 developers on the team, and they claim that where they are going into Alpha 2 from Alpha 1 is massive : They touched on people who are getting impatient for Ashes of Creation to release by saying it is very important that Ashes of Creation is fun and executed well, because that will be more important come release. Ashes of Creation has been in development since 2016 : Of course, like many other crowd-funded MMOs, they started with a very small team, it's the support of people buying packages that the Ashes of Creation team has been able to grow to what I would consider a fairly large team of over 170 devs.
And finally, the big announcement : Alpha 2 has been a long time coming and something fans of Ashes of Creation has been salivating over since Alpha 1 : Of course there will be testing throughout January, Febuary etc, they want you to know that Alpha 2 is still a testing phase, it is not a complete game however it is a large portion of the game and a large portion of the world with a ton of features available : Alpha 2 will be released in Quarter 3 of 2024 : So 9 months from now Alpha 2 is planned to officially begin. They said the exact date will be announced as they get closer : They said they will send out emails as we get closer to everyone that has access to Alpha. They also announced that getting access to BETA or ALPHA will close on January 17th. Ashes of Creation will still have some downtime, it could have wipes, it is AFTER ALL testing and as things happen, they will need to patch and the like. Alpha 2 will NOT have an NDA so it will be allowed to be streamed and shown off, so you can bet I'll be playing it here, streaming, and making content on it.
