The title may sound a bit confusing but Grendel and Parandus are the same boss enemy. Only difference is that Parandus is the stronger form you fight if you do this mission after 7 in game days.

Regardless of which one you fight his weakness will still remain the same and that's to Wind. So equipping Wind spells like Aero, Aerora and Aeroga is a good idea.

As soon as the fight starts Grendel/Parandus will cast a barrier around himself that makes him resistant to pretty much every attack and status ailment so your main focus should be on staggering him first to open him up for attacks.

Another problem with that is that you need to stagger him not once but twice in order for him to fall completely and become defenseless. You'll know he's really staggered when he drops to the floor, if he's still standing then you have to stagger him again.

Note: You might want to equip something that gives resistance to status ailments because he casts a few of those in a lot of his attacks.
